The Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS), established on May 18, 2010, is a premier institution dedicated to the advancement of veterinary and animal sciences in Rajasthan and beyond. Located in Bikaner, the university was founded under the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Act, 2010, with the primary objective of enhancing veterinary education, research, and extension services. RAJUVAS plays a key role in transforming the state’s animal husbandry sector, promoting sustainable practices and improving the profitability of the industry through scientific and technological interventions.
RAJUVAS is housed in the historic Ganga Avenue area, covering 200 acres, with buildings like the College of Veterinary and Animal Science, which dates back to 1954. The campus includes several architectural gems such as Bijey Bhavan Palace, Sadul Sadan, and the State Library, which showcase the grandeur of Rajput martial architecture. These structures, built during the early 20th century, were designed by the renowned architect Sir Swinton Jacob for Maharaja Ganga Singh’s family. The university’s work contributes significantly to the state's agricultural and economic development, particularly in milk, meat, and wool production.
